Why would one want to lead themselves?
That’s a great question that our church board and staff (a.k.a. our Leadership Team) are digging into over the next few months, as we meet together to look at how to become better leaders, but not really focused on our teams, as most leadership books tend to do.
This one starts out by taking a look at how personal leadership is a prerequisite to all other leadership:
To lead others well, you first need to lead yourself well.
Dr. Steve A. Brown
In the first session we’ll be diving in to the first chapter, which involves each of us doing a self-evaluation on how we view ourselves as leaders and what steps we feel we need to take, individually, to improve. The idea of doing this before diving into the real “meat” of the book is exciting, and it will be very interesting to see how our views change of ourselves as we work through this together.
If you would like more information on Dr. Brown, I’d invite you to take a look at his site (also powered by WordPress it looks like 🙂 ).
