Octavius…respect

Picture #2 of last weeks’ trip to Mountsberg…Octavius, pictured below, is a Great Horned Owl. I love how he just looked around slowly at all of us, demanding respect…

Meet Pip

This is Pip, the American Kestrel that I had the privilege of shooting (photographically, of course) yesterday. I will feature some shots over the next few weeks of yesterday’s session. We had a total of seven birds but I figured I’d start with my favourite…I love these little guys!

As usual, click the image below to open the full-sized shot in a new window!

Getting Ready For Mountsberg

Next weekend, I’ll be heading to Mountsberg Raptor Centre, which I visited a couple years ago when I received an invite from a friend. The nice thing about how this group does it, is we split a private shoot, so I’m very much looking forward to it again. Last time I went I went a bit crazy with the shots, as I hadn’t been out in a while with birds. This time I plan on focusing more on quality over quantity, but I thought I’d share one of my favourites from the 2014 shoot.

Comments welcome, of course! Oh, and feel free to click the image below to see the full-sized photo 🙂

Hoping the Snow Comes…For A While…

Yes, you read that right…I’m hoping the snow sticks around for a while as there is a photo shoot being planned for early February at the Mountsberg Raptor Centre nearby. I was invited by a friend a couple of winters ago, and had a great time filling a couple memory cards. If the timing works out this year, I’ll concentrate a bit more on quality over quantity. I’ll have to start getting the gear all ready soon so I’m not panicking at the last minute.

Here are a few of my favourite shots from the 2014 shoot…
