Hump-Day Percolations

See what I did there? Coffee theme in the title…pretty slick, eh? 🙂

Spring is just around the corner. I know it’s officially started, but we apparently have one more cold front coming this weekend up here and I’m standing firm that after that we’re going to see a turn to warmer weather! Of course, I now have the start of a cold, so this is perfect timing…get through this cold while I’m not tempted to ride…then I’ll be ready to go!

I was out for some wings last night with a great group of guys from our church…had a blast just chatting and enjoying the company, and seeing some faces that I realized I hadn’t seen in a while. Catching up is always fun!

Watching some of the hockey games going on at the bar we were at, and seeing the Leafs stromanbeat the Panthers last night (not helping our lottery chances for the first overall draft pick by the way) made me realize how close the regular season opener is for MLB and my Toronto Blue Jays! There’s a buzz around the city as we get closer to the 2016 season, and rightly so – they gave us a great run last year, and fans around Toronto – heck, across Canada – are looking forward to this year with another solid team! Stroman has the nod for the season opener, so what better way to start with his energy on the mound?!

Well, I hope everyone has a great Wednesday, and remember…it’s all downhill from here to the WEEKEND!!

What a Week!

As you can probably tell from the lack of posts here, it was a very crazy week. My apologies for not showing myself in the blogosphere, but hopefully it’s back to a manageable, sane pace again. I did manage to enjoy IMG_0616a Leafs game on Thursday evening, which, of course, they lost by a goal that they gave up close to the end of the game. It was still a great environment, and the seats were great, so a superb evening for sure!

On Saturday a couple cycling friends and I headed to the Toronto International Bike Show, which was jam-packed with great deals from wall to wall! Initially, the idea for one of the friends and I was to look for a deal on a road wheel and tire IMG_0632set for his hybrid and my Cyclocross. We have both been finding we enjoy pure road riding most, so wanted the option of swapping out for thinner, slicker road sets when the ride warranted that. After pricing a few out, and discussing with the experts, we realized we were only getting halfway to a real road experience (our drivetrains are not geared as high), so then the deals started showing themselves on some entry-level endurance racers, and we both ended up wheeling out new purchases! Here’s my new (2014) Trek Domane 2.3 after a quick 10KM test ridetestride this afternoon (a bit chilly, but it was sunny, so that helped keep me warm). I wasn’t going too fast, as I need to do some adjustments to the new shoes (first time using clip pedals and shoes). My cadence sensor may not be completely aligned properly either, so will fiddle with that. All in all, though, MUCH more acceleration with this bike than the Giant AnyRoad, and it definitely rolls along much easier. Once I get back my biking legs this spring it will be interesting to see how much more speed and endurance I can get with this setup.

Off to do some steaks for dinner now…enjoy the last bits of the weekend!

Guess I’d Better Start Driving!

I had to LOL at this one! My phone just alerted me (thanks to Waze) that I should be leaving soon for an appointment…the funny thing is, the appointment is on my personal calendar, and it’s just the Leafs/ Bruins game in Boston tonight!

BostonDrive

I guess I should leave shortly if I want to get to Boston on time!

Waze is great at keeping you on schedule based on current traffic conditions when you have to get to appointments, and let me tell you, I use it DAILY, whether it’s just for the commute to and from the office, or navigating Toronto during the day getting to sales calls.
